Individuals actions have an accountability to both community and nature. Decisions and actions are considered in&nbsp;what is good for tribe, nature and<em> <strong>all living things.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Identity is intertwined intimately with nature.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This belief is a strong contrast to western culture\u2019s belief that land is \u2018for extractions* of its resources\u2019 with the perception of humans are separate from and above nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> It\u2019s an odd sort of hierarchy, when you think about it, because humans depend on nature to survive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>( Indigenous Canada resource)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Indigenous cultures understand this dependability, and the delicate balance required in this relationship for future generations to thrive. Check out this\u00a0 recent educational enlightening documentary \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/ca\/tv-pr\/originals\/the-year-earth-changed\/\">the Year Earth Changed\u201d <\/a>to see how.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Painting nature\u2019s landscapes is more than creating a lovely vista to me. It is here to nourish us in every possible way.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just like in any relationship renewal, there is an opportunity for positive change, understanding and respect.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By sharing and illuminating this intimate nature- human relationship in my work, I hope you can feel it\u2019s energy, nourishment, healing capacity,&nbsp; and wonder.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>~ <strong><em>May you, and all my relations be well. May we be united moving forward into a loving and healthy future.&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>P.S<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I just completed the University of Alberta\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\/learn\/indigenous-canada\">Indigenous Canada\u201d <\/a>online 12 week course, taught from Indigenous perspective. I highly recommend the course, it\u2019s tremendously informative &amp; educational.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New Work~<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201cGlow\u201d 20&#215;30 oil&nbsp; $ 1,800.oo<\/em><\/strong> is a wonderful refresh to an earlier piece. I have been working hard developing colour tones, and wanted to include chunkier brushstrokes without the painting feeling heavy. It needed to feel soft and vibrant, with lots of movement. The work I do isn\u2019t about having a template of style, it\u2019s about what the scene calls for. This one needed to have a light feel, the power of it being in the sense of movement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>&#8220;Buoy&#8221; new 8&#215;10 oil<\/em><\/strong>, has such a story! I will just share that the title, \u201cBuoy\u201d has many meanings, \u201c to stay afloat\u201d \u201cfloating device\u201d \u201c life preserver\u201d \u201c to cheer\u201d \u201cto bolster\u201d \u201cto embolden\u201d \u201c to encourage\u201d and \u201cto strengthen\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201cAutumn Forest\u201d or \u201c The Wise\u201d 8&#215;10 $550.oo <\/em><\/strong>is a new painting from a late afternoon wander in the woods last month.
