( ie. We may do pre-paintings, studies and apply internal puzzle work first, which may take years)<\/p>\n<p>3. The public\u2019s association of professionalism with efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>~Companies can rise or fall depending on their efficiencies. Big industry depends on it.\u00a0Associating creation of a handmade original with any other kind of manufacturing process is a dangerous road. And Artists know it.<\/p>\n<p>4. We don\u2019t keep track.<\/p>\n<p>~Imagine making a complicated recipe, then stopping every time you add an ingredient to list the time each step took. It would be labour intenstive and incredibly distracting from your focus. Now imagine this process is a hundred times more difficult than the recipe, because there is no template or formula.<\/p>\n<p>~ We often work on several pieces at once to varying degrees. It would be nearly impossible and inefficient to track time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow long did it take to paint that?\u201d may be followed by \u201cArtists only work when they feel like it, or when inspiration moves them\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, that simply isn\u2019t the case.<\/p>\n<p>Many put in long days, months, years, some with near obsessive rigid schedules.\u00a0One artist responded, &#8220;how long did it take me to paint that?.. it took me 5 years of nervous breakdowns\u201d. \u00a0(Read Picasso\u2019s comment and about toil \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dawnbanning.com\/newsblog\/of-art\/\">here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/artistswhothrive.com\/long-take-paint\/\">Artists who Thrive<\/a>, state &#8220;Artists don\u2019t trade their time for money.\u00a0We trade value for money. And what value is that? <strong>Emotion<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From Artist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.finearttips.com\/2011\/11\/how-long-did-it-take-to-paint-that\/\">Lori McNee<\/a> &#8220;ART in all its forms )(is an accumulation of knowledge. Each painting, novel, poem )( is the\u00a0embodiment\u00a0of the artists lifelong experiences,\u00a0emotions, education, and intuition.<\/p>\n<p>To Lori&#8217;s comment\u00a0I would add: this accumulation of knowledge and emotions are a form of <strong>communication to humanity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Art can emotionally reflect a viewer\u2019s experience which they possibly couldn\u2019t articulate themselves. <strong>That\u2019s powerful.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Artists understand when asked this question, the public is either curious or searching for a way to validate the art.<\/p>\n<p>This validation\u00a0can be assured\u00a0with quality of work, intention, uniqueness, originality, collective following, and, the spark of emotional connection.<\/p>\n<p><em>The purpose of art is not a rarified, intellectual distillate \u2013 it is life, intensified, brilliant life.~ Alain Arias-Mission<\/em><\/p>\n<p>~ Please feel free to share this free newsletter with your friends &amp; encourage them to sign up.
