A medical illustrator approached me during opening night at my exhibit.\u00a0She desperately wanted to paint but her attempts had failed miserably, she explained. She wished for a sense of freedom in painting.<\/p>\n

Feeling her frustration, my heart went out to her.\"waterlilies-crop\"<\/a>New~\u00a0Waterlilies 22×28 oil on canvas<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you wear reading glasses?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, of course.\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTake them off.\u201d I suggested.<\/p>\n

Startled doubt cross her face.\u00a0Understanding, I gently laid my hand on her arm.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo glasses and trust yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n

To see the big picture, we may need to focus less on minute details.<\/p>\n

Big work<\/strong> ~\u00a0in progress..two five foot canvas’. The lake reflection\u00a0is a challenge I have been wanting to tackle for awhile, exciting to be finally immersed in it. The northern Ontario piece is inspired by my friend Julia Hargreaves<\/a> paddling photo. It’s just begun, but has a great feel already.<\/p>\n
